I have been patiently waiting to get my seasonal flu and H1N1 shots. Well, maybe not so patiently as of late. Our town "ran out" of the seasonal ones back in October and will not be receiving more because the manufacturers have switched to making the H1N1 vaccines. And the H1N1 vaccines have slowly been trickling in (they're hard to pin down!) I have been calling multiple clinics daily, "do you have the H1N1 vaccine yet? Do you know where I can get one? How can I qualify to get one? Do you have any more seasonal flu shots yet?" I was thinking about faking pregnancy to see if they'd give me them. If not, and I got caught, I could go to jail and get my shots there since convicts currently have priority over me. It's a win-win!
Okay, I didn't do that. But I did get tired of the run-around and ended up getting both shots at my family practice clinic because I called and simply told them that I qualified and that I needed an appointment. And I have never been so happy to be poked.

Resolutions 2010
Well, it's that time of year again: Time to make New Year's resolutions and grade yourself on your progress/completion of last year's goals. Remember my goals last year?
Well, this year I only have one goal:
1. Make more realistic/attainable resolutions
Okay, okay. I did make some progress on my goals last year, and still hope to improve on those; but I was hoping that by the time the clock strikes midnight January 31, 2009, like magic my goals will have been completed and I will have become a better person. The truth is, I'm still working on this goal. By jove! I've realized my resolution this year: To become a better person. That one I think I can do. You know when you are shopping and you pick up an item on aisle #1 and then realize on aisle #12 that you don't want it anymore, or that you found a better way to spend your money? And then you leave the item on aisle #12 instead of returning it to aisle #1? (you know you do it too). That's not going to be me anymore. I intend to become a better person by thinking of others first. Who would want to be the employee who has to take the pj's from the candy aisle all the way back to the clothing section? Not me. (Sorry Target employee.)

Yes, this year I hope to be kinder, more thoughtful, better. In the words of Rosie the Riveter: "We can do it!"

Oh the places we'll go
Okay, here's the scoop. We are taking a week of vacation in February. That much I do know. Where shall we go? I haven't figured that one out yet. My only one criteria: the destination must be warm, and no, we can't afford Hawaii this time. Any suggestions?

My car is the best
Last night my car turned over to 100000 miles. She's been the best car- a 1998 Toyota Corolla. Even though my husband drives her, she is MY car. She was my first car, purchased in college. I can't believe she is 11 years old and is just now hitting this milestone. We've had no problems with her other than a couple of door handles falling off. Thanks for the many miles, Alfie!

Goodbye sinus problems- I hope
So, I've decided to have surgery. I just can't handle the chronic sinus infections, complicated by year-round allergies and a deviated septum. I hope it helps. Wish me luck and pray that I don't end up looking like this:

I miss food
Wouldn't it be awful if you couldn't taste? Right now I am sick with a cold and/or sinus infection and can't taste anything because of the stuffiness. And I'm telling you right now that I really miss the taste of food! But on a positive note, if I never regain my sense of taste, I'd probably be able to finally eat gross stuff like veal, shark fin soup, and mustard.
